Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, a Belmond Hotel in Oxfordshire is one of England’s most celebrated manor house hotels.
Often referred to simply as Le Manoir, it is home to one of the UK’s most celebrated chefs, Raymond Blanc. His many successes culminating in the dreamlike Le Manoir aux Quat‘Saisons. Just a year after he created it in 1984, it was awarded two Michelin stars. It remains the only country house hotel in Britain to retain two Michelin stars for more than 30 years.
Surrounded by lawns, flower borders and orchards, the setting is postcard-perfect.
The manor house itself dates back to the 16th century and has been transformed into a luxurious country house hotel. Each of the 32 individually designed rooms and suites is decorated to reflect different themes and cultures, offering guests a unique and comfortable stay.
We stayed in one of the few dog-friendly rooms that were situated at the garden level. George and Lulu were treated to night time biscuits.
It was a beautiful Summer’s day, and we meandered through their peaceful gardens, which spanned over 27 acres. Visitors will find a Japanese tea garden, an English water garden, and an extensive herb garden.
It includes a two-acre kitchen organically maintained garden that supplies the restaurant with fresh, organic produce. Le Manoir places a strong emphasis on sustainability and eco-friendliness. The restaurant focuses on using seasonal ingredients to reduce its carbon footprint.
Dogs are allowed on the grounds on a leash.
A lavender scented footpath paves the way for a spectacular culinary fairy tale.
Every taste, every bite was exquisite from start to end.
The combination of superb cuisine, luxurious accommodations, idyllic countryside settings, and attentive service created a magical and memorable visit for Margaret and I. As well as celebrating our 40 years of friendship which coincides with the year Le Manoir was created by Raymond Blanc.
Margaret and I met at Graduate School in South Carolina back in 1984. And through the years, we have made many memories and had lots of Afternoon Teas and champagne together. Thank you Margaret for the years of amazing memories and your generosity of friendship.
This was really a gastronomic staycation for us but the dogs were allowed to come along. And though they were not allowed in the dining areas, we were able to sit outside for an afternoon tea on the lawn.
I had booked to come here with Darcy and George for my birthday in April 2020 but Covid took this away from us. But grateful that I can enjoy this with Margaret as well as George and Lulu.
