This was something Mummy had always wanted to do, so one Sunday, along with Mummy’s friends we made an expedition to Brooklyn! We met up in Brooklyn Heights and had brunch at Teresa’s. It was about the only place where I could sit “outside” as in on the other side of the sidewalk cafe barrier. I was all the time under the table! :)))
After lunch we walked along The Promenade .
we saw the Statue of Liberty, the Manhattan skyline
… and a memorial for September 11th (that was a sad day for humankind).
Then finally we all walked across the Brooklyn Bridge. There were so many people on it!
May’s comment: This was something I had always wanted to do and also somewhat symbolic. So along with three of my best girlfriends and Darcy, we crossed the Brooklyn Bridge – symbolically, we all had our reasons. When we were in the middle of the bridge, above the Hudson River, we each cast away our “past” – broken dreams, deaths, illness … and then we moved forward towards Manhattan – our “Brave New World.”
And to celebrate in grand style, we went to The Original Chinatown Ice Cream. Darcy wasn’t allowed in – of course!
