We got up early and made our way to Kings Cross Station.
Traffic wasn’t good but we made it on time.
When we got to Kings Cross, we met up with Miuccia and Jacqui.
We went to ask about the Flying Scotsman and was told it had left the station earlier that morning. Oh bummer!
Well, we better get on our train and maybe we might pass it!
The train was crowded but we three just stayed under the table
We arrived at York station and thought – well, we didn’t pass the Flying Scotsman, so surely it must be at the station. As we pulled into the station, we could see the tail end of the carriages on another platform.
But as we pulled out of the station, we saw the locomotive still steaming away after it had arrived!
Apparently it had arrived just before us – hmm, we started more than three hours after it left Kings Cross Station.
May’s comment: We woke up to news that The Flying Scotsman one of the most famous locomotive in the world took to the tracks after a decade long restoration – leaving London at 07.40 and arrived at York at 13.40. Our train pulled in shortly after!
The Flying Scotsman was the first train that officially went past 100mph.
