Worm Free!

Worm Free! As free as the wind blows! As free as the grass grows! Worm free to follow your heart! 🙂 Oh, no slugs and snails?

We had our results back from Wormcount and the results were more than pleasing!!!!

The results of today’s faecal egg count for your dog are:

Toxocara Spp – <20peg

Tapeworm Spp  – None seen

Other in sample – None seen

The results of the lungworm screen for your dog from the sample you sent us are:

Dog Lungworm (Oslerus osleri)  – None seen

Fox Lungworm (Crenosoma vulpis) – None seen

French Heartworm (Angiostrongylus vasorum) – None seen

We are very pleased to tell you that your lungworm screen is negative.

It should be remembered however, that a lungworm screen is merely a snapshot of what is happening at this moment in your dog. Heartworm infection can take only 38 days from the dog being in contact with the infected slug or snail to his passing out live larvae. It is therefore recommended that if you believe your dog to be at risk from lungworm, you should have him worm counted at least every three months. We will contact you again in three months time to remind you and you can then make the decision.

May’s comment: A relief to know. Not so happy collecting feaces but if it’s a way to keep track of Darcy’s health, it’s worth it.

We’ve started using Billy No Mates and Verm-X but heard needs topping up with Advocate – which doesn’t sit well with Darcy. She had such a bad reaction to it the last time.
