One of the most significant celebration of the Lunar New Year is the Reunion dinner.
This is the time when family return “home” to feast on the eve of the New Year.
So we gathered with some of our friends in London who have no families to return to and celebrated at a dog-friendly Asian restaurant in London! We just found out about it.
They gave us a long table downstairs as there were eight hoomans and seven dogs!
And we each got a Red Packet filled with treats!
The hoomans are all Londoners but they all got to know each other because of us pooches. Collectively they represented Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Hong Kong – a mini gathering of Overseas Chinese in London on this night for Reunion Dinner.
May’s comment: We were delighted because it is difficult to find Chinese/Asian restaurants in London or anywhere in the world that are dog-friendly. Here are three of the restaurants we have been to where you can celebrate the Year of the Rat.
Foley’s Restaurant – a neighbourhood restaurant that serves up food inspired from modern Asian cuisine which means a menu with laksa, gyoza and more. 23 Foley Street, W1W 6DU
The Duck and Rice – Dim sum with dogs on a Sunday – heaven!!! Stylish British pub with copper beer tanks and upstairs dining room serving elevated Chinese dishes. Dogs are only allowed downstairs in the bar area but you can basically have the same menu as upstairs. 90 Berwick St, London W1F 0QB3
CHOJO is a cosy Chinese restaurant and tea house in the Westbourne Grove neighbourhood. They serve authentic oriental small plates, dumpling and noodles for sharing as that is the Chinese dining etiquette. 16 Garway Road , London W2 4NH
